In 1997, the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre (PEOC) at the Royal Devon and Exeter’s Wonford site opened. Today, the centre continues to develop its reputation as a centre of excellence for orthopaedic surgery, training and research both nationally and internationally. There are a total of twenty two orthopaedic consultants based at the PEOC, five of whom specialise in hip replacement surgery and comprise the Exeter Hip Unit; Mr A Timperley, Mr M Hubble, Mr J Howell and Mr M Wilson, Mr Charity.
